Now that I have official word off SEGA that we can post entries...
Here's the little extra bit I sent to SEGA:
"If I can, can I talk a little about my picture here? I'd just like to get my thoughts about this down really while they're fresh. Basically while wondering what to do for the contest, I thought about what Sonic CD is truly about. Sure, it's about beating Eggman and saving the Little Planet, but then I realised that it was about more than that, it was actually about saving the future. So instead of doing what you doubtlessly have had a lot of (Sonic vs Metal Sonic on Stardust Speedway), I went for something that wasn't my favourite moment, but the concept. I featured the game. Even Tails, as a reference to his playable release this year when the game is re-released later in the year. I put a few touches that are rather subtle and I really wouldn't want to spoil them, but I'll mention my favourite. There are a total of seven references to the Special Stage in this picture, as well as the 14 potential futures (That were all hand painted digitally).
As for the picture itself, I can honestly say it's an exprence artistically that I'll never regret, even if I don't win a prize. The feeling of exileration once I finished the painted backgrounds for the zones was amazing, and I saw that I had improved while doing them. The first was Metallic Madness, which with Stardust Speedway and Palmtree Panic I did as the centrepiece if the background as I felt they were most iconic from the game (Being the start, end and Metal Sonic's Zone essentially), which the full image is quite boring, but when I got round to doing Collision Chaos on the 26th, it looks miles better, kinda glad Sonic's hiding most of it. Painting Dr. Eggman and Amy was quite interesting too, I'd never painted a background before, let alone characters! And most of all, Dr. Eggman!? A character on each attempt of drawing him always came out horrible! Not this time though, thank goodness!
Course, when I started this, I didn't realise just how big a project it was either! On paper it seems so simple, "Draw 14 backgrounds, all characters from Sonic CD, and some UFO's". This turned into drawing Sonic, Metal Sonic and Tails, painting Eggman and Amy and the real hitter, doing one zone a day. In fact, Tidal Tempest is so detailed it actually took me two days on to do! In terms of hours though? Probably about 52 hours on the painted zones. Kinda scary now I look back, it honestly scares me just how dedicated I was to this picture! And because of that, thanks SEGA, you and the little blue hedgehog managed to get me to sit down and not only complete a picture, but possibly my best piece of art to date.

YES! I did this in November, and I kid you not how long it took. It's honestly not the best picture but... I still loves it <3
Did I win? Did I lose? I don't know, I'm British.
